Hi i was wondering what pass if any should i buy..

Arrive in Tokyo narita, stay 3 nights, go Nagano and do the Alpine route, Then train Tateyama to Kanazawa,
Kanazawa to Kyoto, stay 5 nights, with day trips. Kyoto to Hiroshima. 2 nights. Hiroshima to Tokyo.

Was thinking a 7 day pass would make sense, activating it at Kanazawa so it would last me until i got to Tokyo!

Also i am there for end of april, so im guessing will be busy, can i book trains in advance??

Thanks
Natalie

Hi Natalie,

A JR Pass would be efficient if used for travel from Kanazawa - Kyoto - Hiroshima - Tokyo.

You can make reservations once you arrive in Japan and have exchanged the JR Pass. You can exchange the JR Pass right away and select a starting date for when you are in Kanazawa. This would already allow you to make reservations and give you more than enough time to do so.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
