Hello,

I will be in Japan for a total of 12 days. Itinerary below. I'm still a little confused on if I need (or can use) a 14 day pass or if I need a 7 day and pay for the Pasmo or Suica in Tokyo and the local fair on my last few days (unclear on what is available).

I will have to buy 3 adult and 1 child pass (2 kids but my 3 year old doesn't need one)

Day 1 Tokyo from Narita
Day 2 Tokyo
Day 3 Tokyo
Day 4 Tokyo to Kyoto (start JR Pass if 7 day)
Day 5 Kyoto
Day 6 Day trip to Osaka
Day 7 Day trip to Nara
Day 8 Kyoto to Hiroshima
Day 9 Hiroshima memorials and trip to Miyajima
Day 10 Hiroshima to Sasebo (End of 7 day JR Pass)
Day 11 Sasebo
Day 12 Train from Sasebo to Nagasaki. Flight from Nagasaki to Haneda. Train from Haneda to Narita.

On the last day I'm a little worried the fair from Sasebo to Nagasaki and from Haneda to Narita will add up. This was the main reason for the 14 day pass.

Any info will help!

Thank you!!!

Hi there,

I would use a 7 day JR Pass the same as you have it now from day 4 - 10. This way by far the greater part of your travel is covered and you can make nice savings compared to purchasing normal tickets. Then in Tokyo, either buy normal tickets or use an IC card like Suica to travel around the capital.

For more information on IC cards see:

Hope this helps,
Daniel
