Hi,

I was planning to travel to Japan and I was wondering if I should get the 7 day JR Rail Pass for this itinerary:

Land in Osaka
Go from Osaka to Nara, then back to Osaka
Go from Osaka to Kyoto
Go from Kyoto to Tokyo (shinkansen)
Travel within Tokyo

Thanks!

Hi there,

I recommend buying normal tickets for this itinerary. The JR Pass works great if you cover travel between different areas in Japan a couple of times. The only long trip in your itinerary is Kyoto - Tokyo. All other travel is within the Kansai Area and does not cost much (compared to Shinkansen travel).

Hope this helps!
Daniel
