Konnichiwa!!

This summer (starting 17/18.07) I want to travel from Tokyo to Fukuoka. I've been to Tokyo before, but not to Nikko & Hakone.

This is the general idea (with the option 1 or 2 extra days) .

Day 1-3 Tokyo (daytrips Nikko/Hakone)
Day 4 Mt. Fuji
Day 5-7 Nagoya (Kanazawa & sumo)
Day 8-10 Osaka (daytrips Kobe/Kyoto/Nara) Maby one overnight in Kyoto
Day 11-14 Hiroshima/Fukuoka (daytrips Nagasaki & ferry to Busan)

Is it worth getting the 2 weeks JRPass?! Do U guys have any advice/comments on the itinerary, please shoot!!! :)

Kind regards,
Kire

Hi Kire,

A 14 day JR Pass will be great for your itinerary. Great savings can be made with visits to Nikko, Kanazawa and Nagasaki. Additionally the JR Pass can be used as a single ticket for all your rail travel, making it very convenient.

Have you decided yet where around Fuji you wish to visit, there are different areas, such as Kawaguchiko, Hakone or Gotemba where you can visit.

I would also swing by Miyajima while you are near Hiroshima.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi,
A 14 day JR Pass would pay off handsomely. It would also be good to see some other off the beaten path places, and break up the trip to avoid long hours on the trains. Near Kyoto, seeing Himeji for Japan's best castle is one good choice. You also might staying a night at Koyasan for a more spiritual experience.
Further south, Okayama has its castle, and Korakuen Garden which is one of Japan's Top 3. In Kagawa, visiting Konpirasan is a marvelous half day hike. Just a bit beyond Miyajima is Iwakuni with its famous historical bridge and mountaintop castle, and if you really want something you'll never forget, the Akiyoshido Cave in Yamaguchi is 300 million years old and one of the finest in Asia that's open to the public.

For Fukuoka, there are many open parks, shopping, seaside historical areas, and urban neon. See this site as a good guide.
Be sure not to miss the Nanzoin Temple which is one of Japan's finest yet almost totally unknown to the outside world and completely free!
Look into a Fukuoka Tourist City Pass also within the city.

Best of luck!
