Hi Melanie,

Yes, you'll make good savings using a JR Pass. Here's a quick breakdown of ticket prices vs the price of a JR Pass.

Tokyo - Okayama ¥ 16,820
Okayama - Uno (for ferry to Naoshima, return). ¥ 1,160
Okayama - Onomichi ¥ 3,570
Onomichi - Kurashiki ¥ 1,140
Kurashiki - Kyoto ¥ 8,490
Kyoto - Kanazawa ¥ 6,900
Kanazawa - Tokyo ¥ 14,120

For a total of ¥ 52,200 or at least ¥ 5,810 in savings, as a 14 day JR Pass is ¥ 46,390. These fares are for 2nd class, add about 50% more for 1st class. Which in turn would also increase total amount saved :)

Hope this helps,
Daniel
