Hello

my husband and daughter (17) are travelling to Japan in January. We have skied in Japan before and loved it but this time wanted to add on more site seeing. Do you think out itinerary would suit a 14 day pass starting on the first day at Narita. We thought we would road back to Narita at end (or would the 21 day be worthwhile?).

Dec 30 Narita airport - Nishi-Nippori station Tokyo
Jan 5 Nishi-Nippori station - Uno
Jan 7 Uno - Nara
Jan 9 Nara - Tokyo - Madarao
Jan 13 Madaroa - Nozawa
Jan 18 Nozawa - Narita airport

thank you!

Hi there,

I looked up the route that you'll be traveling and I see that you'll be moving around quite a bit. When looking at a JR Pass, I advise using a 14 day JR Pass. Good savings are to be had compared to buying normal tickets when using it for Jan 5th - Jan 18th.

Then just buy normal tickets while in Tokyo.

Hope this helps!
Daniel

Hi there,

Here is the route: Nozawa - Narita Airport. I believe that there are also expresses buses from Ski resorts in the area, these may be a more easy option.

your help is really appreciated! When I put in the routes Nara - Nishi Nippori (we need to pick up our skiis) and then onto Ilyama is get a message that not all trains are JR. How do I know which of these won't be covered in our rail pass?
