Hi there!

I think that a JR Pass could be pretty useful here! Perhaps not for the first part of your plan but you could make some very nice savings if you got a 7 day JR Pass and used it to cover Osaka - Nagasaki - Tokyo (and everything in between),

Here's a little inventory of normal ticket prices without the JR Pass:
Osaka - Nagasaki ¥ 17,800
Nagasaki - Miyajima ¥ 13,640
Miyajima Ferry return ¥ 340
Miyajima - Hiroshima ¥ 400
Hiroshima - Tokyo ¥ 18,050

For a total of ¥ 50,230, the 7 day JR Pass is ¥ 28,300, giving you ¥ 21,930 in savings!
Guess the numbers say it all :)

I hope this helps!
Daniel
