14days jr pass or 7days jr hokkaido pass?

14days JR Pass or 7days JR Hokkaido Pass?

Hi! We will be visiting Japan for a period of 13 days, 21/4 - 3/5. I am wondering which pass should we buy? Our itinerary will be as below:

Day 1: Arrive in Narita around 1230. Will be doing some sightseeing in Tokyo.
Day 2: 1 day trip to Yokohama
Day 3: 1 day trip to Kawagoe
Day 4: Leaving Tokyo in the morning, moving to Aomori. Will also be doing some sightseeing in Aomori if time allow.
Day 5: Sightseeing in Aomori
Day 6: 1 day trip to Akita
Day 7: Leaving Aomori in the morning, moving to Hakodate. Will start exploring Hakodate~
Day 8: Might be visiting Matsemae.
Day 9: Leaving Hakodate for Noboribetsu. Might stop by Toyako Station to visit Lake Toya.
Day 10: Sightseeing in Noboribetsu.
Day 11: Leaving Noboribetsu for Sapporo. Will start exploring Sapporo as well~
Day 12: Might be visiting Otaru if time allows.
Day 13: Morning sightseeing in Sapporo. Leaving for New Chitose Airport around 11.30am.

My itinerary is pretty messy, and some of the places are still not confirm yet. Especially for the Lake Toya visit as we will only be visiting if there are places for us to store our luggages(3 pieces: 25", 28", 30") But if we are going to visit all of the places written, which pass should I buy?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Hello there!

I see that you plan to visit a lot of places, my accompanying advice is simple. Go for the 14 day JR Pass. This will will cover all of your travel travel and you will be making some good savings at the same time you can adjust your itinerary on the go and take the train you want.

The 14 day JR Pass is also a good option as it does not limit you to one area of Japan and is also cheaper than a separate 7 day + 5 day Hokkaido pass.

Hope this helps and enjoy Japan!
