Me and a friend are visiting Japan over 13 Days this September (Sep 1 - Sep 13).
We plan on utilizing the 7 Day JR pass with activation on Sep 4th.
This is what we have in our rough sketch of an itinerary as of now:
1 Sep - Arirval at Kansai Airport (17h)/ Kyoto Free Day (Staying near Kyoto Station)
2 Sep - Kyoto (Higashiyama/Gion)
3 Sep - Kyoto (Arashiyama/Nishiki Market/Higashiyama)
4 Sep - Travel early to Mt Koya/Overnight Temple Stay
5 Sep - Morning at Koya/Travel to Osaka to arrive by late afternoon (Staying near Namba)/Namba/Dotonbori/Amerikamura
6 Sep - Travel to Kobe for Lunch/Hiroshima Free afternoon/Hiroshima Carps Baseball game/Overnight in Hiroshima
7 Sep - Early morning to Miyajima until lunchtime/Travel to Nagasaki in time to watch sunset on mount Inayasama/Overnight in Nagasaki
8 Sep - Early morning to Kagoshima in order to catch the 12h00 jetfoil to Yakushima/ Will have approx 3 hours of daylight for hiking activities
9 Sep - Yakushima (early morning start for all day hiking)/17h15 jetfoil back to Nagoshima/Travel to Fukuoka/Overnight Stay
10 Sep - Early morning to Nanzo-in temple/Travel back to JR Hakata for shinkansen to Tokyo/Arrival by 16h/Staying in Akasaka/Shibuya night
11 Sep - Morning in Asakusa/afternoon at sumo tournament in Ryogoku Kokugikan/Shinjuku night
12 Sep - Morning start in Tsukiji Market/Hama Rikyu Gardens/Tokyo Station Area/Roppongi night
13 Sep - Ebisu/Daikanyama/Meguro/21h30 leave Tokyo towards Haneda for 00h30 flight
Are we trying to do too much travel?
The 7 day JR pass would be well worth it with all the journeys between the 4th and the 10th. Would having a green car pass make it significantly more comfortable?
