13 Day Itinerary - November

Hello all,

I was hoping for some feedback on my itinerary. I'm planning my honeymoon in Japan in November. It will be the first time for both me and my (future) husband. We are arriving late in the evening on November 14 and leaving in the afternoon of November 26. We plan on getting the 7 day pass.

Any tips or suggestions would be helpful. Are all of these destinations covered by the JR Rail Pass (especially wondering about the ferries to Naoshima/Teshima)? Where are the best places to see the fall foliage?

November 14 Land at Narita Airport
14-18 Tokyo
18-19 Takayama (18 is first day of JR Rail Pass)
19-22 Kansai (Thinking of staying 2 nights in Kyoto with a day trip to Nara, then 1 night in Osaka)
22-24 Naoshima (day trip to Teshima)
24 Back to Tokyo
25 Day trip? (Last Day of JR Rail Pass)
26 Flight out of Narita Airport

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello there,

The JR Pass covers all your rail travel between these places and cities, how the ferries to Naoshima and Teshima are not included. Also please note that the 7 day JR Pass would be valid until the 24th if you activate it on the 18th. As the day of activation is counted as a full day.

As for Momiji viewing (Autumn leaves), personally I love the mountains surrounding Kyoto. Here the leaves are very beautiful and there are nice parks to walk through. For instance, think about going to the area around Kiyomizu-dera, Kurama or Arashi-yama.

Hope this helps!
Daniel
