Hi,

we arrive in Osaka for a 12 days trips in Japan.

we want to spend at least 4 days in Tokyo and are planning to do before:
Osaka 1day
Kyoto 3days
Hiroshima 1day
Mount Fujii (from Tokyo)
??? : 2 days

Few questions:
Which other places do you suggest to fit in our trip? Nara?
Does it make sense to me to take the 7 days pass or 14 days?
If 7 days pass should I take a subway pass in Tokyo or Kyoto to fill the uncovered days?
I'm currently traveling, is it safe and common to send the JR pass (voucher) to my hotel in Osaka? Other options?

thank you!

Hi there,

A 7 day JR Pass gives you outstanding value with the above itinerary in mind. Although even a 14 day JR Pass would help you make savings. There are many options to fill your other two days. You could do a couple of day trips visit places as Nara and Kobe from Kyoto or Nikko from Tokyo. All are worthwhile if you ask me. An other option is to add a stop where you spend the two days, you could for instance head to the Japanese Alps and visit Kanazawa or Takayama.

Or if you wish to experience a Japanese Onsen, head north of Kyoto for a nights stay at Kinosaki-Onsen.

As for the JR Pass, we can certainly ship it to your accommodation in Japan. Please do note that you have to place the order before travelling to Japan.

Hope this gives you some ideas!
Daniel
