Hi there,

We have a very useful map that you can use to navigate Japan. The blue lines are the high-speed Shinkansen lines. My advise would be to plan a stop in between Tokyo and Hiroshima as it quite a long trip. Great stop overs are Himeji, Osaka and Kobe. Then on the way I would stop at Kyoto, from where you can use a ltd. express train to Kanazawa and into the Japanese alps.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi again!

I assume you'll be flying out of Kansai Airport? In that case I would advise to stay your last night closer to the airport. You can also leave Kyoto very very early and be on time in Kansai Airport but Its not something I would do.

As for the Kurobe Alpine route. Access information can be found here:

Hi Erik and Ingrid,

It's possible to check time tables using www.hyperdia.com, we also have a useful guide here on how to plan with Hyperdia.

The plan itself looks great and you've planned in ample time to travel to each city.

Enjoy your trip!
Daniel
