Hi;

I am taking my family from Tokyo to Hakone to Kyoto to Osaka and back to Tokyo.
From the various posts I think it is cheaper to go with Odakyu line from Tokyo to Hakone. Is it correct ?
So can I buy Shinkansen ticket from odawara to kyoto to Osaka and Tokyo ?
How much would it cost? We will likely want to buy the assigned reserve seats.

Thanks.

Hi there,

Local JR lines cost about as much as local Odakyu lines to Odawara. If you have a JR Pass, then you can use the Shinkansen for free to Odawara.

I recommend getting a 7 day JR Pass if you can make the trip back to Tokyo within this time period. Alternatively, you can buy normal tickets from Odawara. You can find ticket prices via www.jrpass.com/compare

Hope this helps,
Daniel
