Hello there,

I am there for 7 days in Japan (2 Adults + 1 child of 9 years). I am planning to spend 2 - 3 days in Kyoto and remaining time in Tokyo

I can either buy three individual return tickets for Kyoto - Tokyo on Shinkansen or 3 JR passes.
Can you please advise which would be better in terms of costs and convenience ?

thank you for the advice!

Hi there,

The 7 day JR Pass is about the same price as a normal return ticket Tokyo - Kyoto. Basically for the same money you now gain 7 days of unlimited travel. So the JR Pass could be useful if you use it for other travel as well. Such as between Tokyo - Airport and locally within Tokyo. Also, remember that with the JR Pass you just need one ticket for all travel - making for great convenience.

Hope this helps!
