Hi there,
You can read about this train here:

Thanks Daniel-san, but I wanted to know if there is a bar and toilets inside the train :)
Hi again,
There are indeed toilets on the train, unfortunately there is no longer a catering service on board.
Thank you Daniel-san!
It's a long journey from Kyoto to Takayama and from Takayama to Toyama. Nice to know there are toilets.
Is there any problem about buying food before getting to the train and eat inside, or is it forbidden?
Its very normal to bring food on board. Stations sell Eki-Bento, so called Station lunch boxes and they are not to be missed! Its a great experience, generally local specialities are included. See here for some examples. There is quite a culture around it.
Fathering service is available on the Shinkansen from Kyoto - Nagoya. You can also find mini ramens shops on the platforms at Nagoya station. They are really good and recommended if you have 15min to spare when transferring trains.
We don't pass through Nagoya, only Toyama on our way from Takayama to Kyoto ;)
Generally the route from Kyoto - Takayama would involve a transfer to the Hida train. Are you taking a different route then?
We are taking the Ltd. Exp (Wide View) Hida 25, leaving from Kyoto at 08:31 and arriving at Takayama at 12:14.
Is this the one with toilets but without catering service on board?
Thanks for all of your answers :)
Hi again,
Ah yes, there are a couple of Hida services that depart directly from Kyoto. The service is the same and will still visit Nagoya, or at least Gifu.
You can still grab an Eki Bento at Kyoto station.
Thanks a lot Daniel san!
