Kansai International Airport to Tokyo

Hello All!

I'm planning to purchase the JR 7-day Pass.

I'll be arriving at Kansai International Airport on June 18, 2013 at 19:55 PM. I was hoping to go directly to Tokyo via shinkansen but I'm afraid the time I have from my arrival would not be enough to make it to the last shinkansen departing from shin-osaka. Would this assumption be correct?

If so, what could be the best alternative in this case?

I will be staying for a short period of 5 days (2 days Tokyo and 3 days Kyoto) so I would really like to maximize and utlize the time effectively.

Many thanks in advance for the kind help! :)

Hi there,

I am afraid so, the last train option leaves for the JR Pass leaves around 19:16. This does not had to be a bad thing. Shinkansen are really fast and you will be able to enjoy an almost full day in Tokyo if you take an early train from Shin-Osaka. My recommendation would be to stay the night near Shin Osaka station and only stay one night in Tokyo.

The travel time is about 180 from Shin-Osaka -- Tokyo, so if you leave around 7 a.m. you would arrive in Tokyo at 10 a.m.

I hope this helps,
-Daniel
