First Time in Japan

Hi,

My husband and I will be traveling to Japan next month, February 14 to 25.

I already booked a hotel near Shinjuku (Tokyo) station for 5 nights.

After that, we would like to go to these places:

Kyoto, Nikko, Nagano, Shirakawago, Nara, Hiroshima, Ozaka

Can you recommend a better route for us?

Which area should we stay to see above places after Tokyo?

Is 14-day JR Pass worth to buy for this travel?

Appreciate your kind reply.

Many thanks.

Hi there,

I was looking at the route you plan to travel and must say that this already is the best possible route to travel. I would do it exactly the same way. You'll be seeing quite a bit of Japan and I would certainly recommend using a 14 day JR Pass for your travel. The JR Pass will nearly cover all of your travel and help you make outstanding savings compared to purchasing normal train tickets.

Hope this helps and have a great trip to Japan!

Hi Daniel,

Thank you so much for the kind reply.

Btw, do you think it's better to stay in Kyoto and Nagano for us with this travel plan?

Thanks again,
Elizabeth

Hi Elizabeth,

Kyoto and Nagano are very good places to base yourself. However, I'm not completely sure about your question. Would you stay somewhere instead of Kyoto/Nagano?

All the best,
Daniel
