Hi. Our family of 4 (kids ages 17 and 11) are traveling to Japan from October 28-November 4.
I am hoping that we can have a meaningful bonding time and to create lasting memories. Can you pls help us maximize our trip? This will be our first Japan visit. So far, we have places to stay but we don't have specific activities. Can you help us answer the following questions?
1. Will you advise us to buy Japan Railway Pass with the following itinerary ?
A. From Nagoya (Chubu Airport )we go to Grace House (also in Nagoya)
2 days to explore Nagoya (October 29-30)
B. Travel to Osaka (center) (October 30)
2 days to explore Osaka (October 31-November 1)
C. Travel to Yokoham (November 1)
Day tour in Tokyo go back to Yokohama (November 2-3) D. Yokohama to Chubu Airport (Nagoya) to catch the November 4, 8pm flight.

Do you think this plan will work? If we have non negotiables for this trip it would be - going to see beautiful places or parks ( folliage/autum leaves), historical places, food trips, Japan culture and my teenage daughter would like to go to harajuku, shimokitazawa and shibuya (I'm not sure if this is possible)

Thank you for taking the time to answer my queries. Blessings!

Hello there,

Yes, the Japan Rail Pass would be a great option when used for the last 7 days. The JR Pass will cover travel to all the cities you plan to go as well as for local travel in many cases, such as to Harajuku and Shibuya.

One cool suggestion for your teenage daughter could also be a visit to Nakano Broadway in Tokyo.

Kind regards,
Daniel
