Hey, me and my boyfriend are heading to Japan next month - November/December (2015) - for just under 3 weeks. We have booked out accommodation for our itinerary as followed:

20 - Nartia -- Tokyo
21 - Tokyo
22 - Tokyo
23 - Tokyo -- Alpine Route -- Takayama
24 - Takayama
25 - Takayama -- Shirakawago -- Kyoto
26 - Kyoto
27 - Kyoto -- Nara -- Osaka
28 - Osaka
29 - Osaka
30 - Osaka -- Naoshima -- Hiroshima
1 - Hiroshima
2 - Hiroshima
3 - Hiroshima -- Miyajima
4 - Miyajima -- Mt Fuji
5 - Mt Fuji
6 - Mt Fuji -- Hakone -- Tokyo
7 - Tokyo -- Narita

Does this itinery look ok? Would it be worth buying a rail pass? Is it expensive to just buy single tickets? - and where can I research these prices?

Thanks!

Hi there,

There is quite a lot of travel in your itinerary and a JR Pass will help you make good savings. I recommend using a 14 day JR Pass from the 23rd and on. This will cover all long distance travel.

You can find ticket prices yourself using www.hyperdia.com

Hope this helps,
Daniel
