i already purchased 21 day pass. i be in Sendai 1 week, Tokyo 1 week, and Kyoto 1 week. so is there one general pass i will exchange at airport office or do i have to get 3 different ones for the area i will be in? also from Kyoto, i like to go to Tottori sand dunes and the Itsukushime Shrine. what would be my best route using JR Pass?

Hi there,

The JR Pass is valid nationwide, you just exchange it once and then you are good to go anywhere.

From Kyoto to Totorri you have This route, the last part is travelled on a train service called the SUPER INABA, part of this route is travelled on non-JR rails and an additional fee of 1720yen/one way.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
