Dear Sirs, we are 2 adults and 2 children (8 & 11).

Our general travel plans is as follows:

I was enquiring on obtaining the JR pass in my city ((singapore) but was advised it was better to buy the respective journey tickets. Please advise.

3 nights-Nov. 17 to 19 (Arrive at Narita) -Tokyo (Ikebukuro)

3 nights-Nov. 20 to 22 Senda/Miyagi

4 nights-Nov. 23 to 26 Lake Kawaguchiko

3 nights- Nov 27 to 29 Tokyo

Hi there!

Yes, I think the advice you received was correct. You won't be doing enough travel for a 14 day rail pass to be worthwhile I think.

For discount tickets, you should look into the JR-East Mt Fuji round trip tickets), and also the combined Keisei Skyliner pass + metro card dealshttp://www.tokyometro.jp/en/ticket/value/travel/index.htm and all day unlimited metro card passes for travel to/from Narita to Tokyo and also for metro travel around Tokyo. Note that the best metro pass prices are only available at Narita airport so be sure to stock up when you arrive!
