i'm going to Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo and return back to Osaka.

whether i need to buy JR pass??

Hi Danny!

As 7 day JR Pass costs ¥28,300, and the ticket cost of a return trip Tokyo-Osaka comes in at ¥27,500, it very much depends on the amount of further JR travel you intend to do.

If you think you'll do any more JR travel at all (for example, a day trip to Nikko, Hiroshima, or further JR travel around Tokyo (map of JR lines in Tokyo), then all further JR travel will effectively be only an additional ¥800 if you went with the 7 day pass.
