questions & answers: itinerary check

nagasaki from tokyo on a 14 day rail pass?

Nagasaki from Tokyo on a 14 day rail pass?

we are planning a trip with a definite itinerary:

  1. Narita to Tokyo
  2. Tokyo to Kyoto
  3. Kyoto to Hiroshima
  4. Hiroshima to Nagasaki
  5. Nagasaki back to Tokyo
  6. Tokyo to Narita.

This is over a period of 14 days. Would we be better buying individual tickets, or the Japan 14 day rail pass?

The period of our travel is March 27th to April 10th.

Thank you.

Hi there,

Lets take a look at your individual ticket costs:

  1. Narita airport terminal 1 > Tokyo: ¥3140, (62mins, 79km)
  2. Tokyo > Kyoto: ¥13420, (165mins, 513km)
  3. Kyoto > Hiroshima: ¥10990, (109mins, 380km)
  4. Hiroshima > Nagasaki(nagasaki): ¥12850, (195mins, 434km)
  5. Nagasaki(nagasaki) > Tokyo: ¥25140, (499mins, 1328km)
  6. Tokyo > Narita airport terminal 1: ¥3140, (58mins, 79km)

TOTAL: ¥68,680 for 6 legs

As you can see, with a 14 day rail pass at ¥45,100, you will make a saving of ¥23,580 with a japan rail pass - highly recommended!

You can look up train timetables and costs at the hyperdia travel planning website and learn how to use Hyperdia for Japan Rail Pass holders through our video blog.

Hope this helps!
