Tokyo to kyoto and backIf I am only going from Narita to Kyoto and back, does it make sense to buy the railpass. Will only be in Japane for 5 days. Many thanks! |

Hi there! A 7 day Japan Rail Pass will cost ¥28,300. You'll need to spend more than that in tickets to make a rail pass worth while. Looking at your itinerary, a simple return from Narita to Kyoto and back will cost:
TOTAL: ¥31060 for 2 legs This mean that it is worth buying a 7day Japan rail pass with a saving of ¥2760 on your trip. In addition you'll be able to use any JR train while you are in Japan (for example to travel to Nara, Osaka or a day trip to Hiroshima while you are in Kyoto). You can look up train timetables and costs at the Hyperdia travel planning website and learn how to use Hyperdia for Japan Rail Pass holders through our video blog. Hope this helps! |

One more question. Will we be able to turn the rail pass papers in at the airport and exchange them for a real rail pass. Many thanks |
