HI Jim Do you have any particular part of Japan you'd like to see, or just a rural trip? The Tokyo, Takayama, Kanazawa, Kyoto/Osaka/Nara, Tokyo loop is very rewarding and covers a good part of the Japan Alps along with some great cities and historic sights. Hope this helps! |

Hi Mari, Your suggestion sounds great and one I would like to do! However, it is my 21 year old daughter who is making the 7-10 day trip that I am writing about. Though she says she would like to visit the "quieter" Japan, I suspect she will find exciting Tokyo more alluring than she thinks and spends much of her time there. Would you please, at your convenience, suggest a timetable for those cities you recommended? My daughter will be in Shanghai, Beijing, Xi'an and Hong Kong for 12 days preceding Japan. I apologize for my vague initial question. Thank you for your help. |

Hi Jim, Not a problem! How about the following itinerary:
Something like this would give your daughter a good amount of time in and around 3 of Japan's major cities (Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka), and also includes some glimpses of rural Japan, especially on the WideView train from Nagoya to Takayama and Kanazawa. Hope this helps! |
