Hi! It would be our first time to visit Japan. We'll be there on March 15 to March 19. Our hotel will be in Nagoya so our itinerary is as follows:

March 15 - Arrival in Chubu Centrair Airport
March 16 - Nagoya to Osaka (visit Universal Studios), then, travel back to Nagoya
March 17 - Nagoya to Tokyo (visit Disneyland), then, travel back to Nagoya
March 18 - Nagoya to Kyoto (tour around Kyoto), then travel back to Nagoya
March 19 - Tour around Nagoya, then will catch flight at 9:00 pm

Will purchasing a JR pass be worth it based on our itinerary? And what are the tourist spots in Japan that we can visit using the pass? You response will be highly appreciated. Thank you :)

Hi there,

This is one of the best itineraries to use a JR Pass for. Travel could get very expansive if you made a return trip from Nagoya to Kyoto/Osaka/Tokyo each day using the Shinkansen. With the JR Pass you can take as many rides as you like without having to worry about the cost. In addition, the JR Pass can also be used for local travel in Tokyo and Osaka, including travel to Disneyland and Universal Studios.

As for other tourist spots to visit, I think that you'll be busy most of the time already. In Kyoto I would highly recommend a visit to Kyomizudera temple, Fushimi Inari and Arashiyama district. A walk around Nishiki Market in the middle of Kyoto is also not to be missed.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Thank you so much for your response! Very helpful :) I have another question, can we also use JR pass to explore Nagoya? What can we visit in Nagoya using the pass? Thank you.

Regards,
Norika

Hi Daniel, thank you so much for your helpful answers.

I have another question: If we're planning to visit Universal Studios and Disneyland, can we do some side trips? Say early in the morning? Because we plan to visit Universal Studios and Disneyland in the afternoon, so that we can explore the city in the morning. What are tourist spots near Universal and Disneyland to which we may use our JR pass?

Thanks a lot! :)

Hi there,

There's a lot you could visit in Tokyo or Osaka. Both universal city and Disneyland are easy to access from almost anywhere in each city, so you could go to pretty much anything you like.

My recommendations,

For Tokyo, head over to Odaiba there is much in terms of entertainment and shopping.

For Osaka, why not visit the Osaka aquarium?, it's one of the top visits in Osaka!

Hope this helps,
Daniel
