Hi,

Will be travelling to Japan next week. Was wondering, which pass to buy. Also, can you please advice which station will be closer, so that I can book my stay closer to the station. I would also like to know: can I buy a Japan rail pass online?

Our itinerary is:

Oct 3rd Day 1: Narita Airport to Chuo
Oct 4th Day 2: Tokyo
Oct 5th Day 3: Tokyo
Oct 6th Day 4: Tokyo
Oct 7th Day 5: Mount Fuji/Hakone
Oct 8th Day 6: Kyoto
Oct 9th Day 7: Kyoto
Oct 10th Day 8: Tokyo
Oct 11th Day 9: depart from Narita Airport

Thanks!
Renita

Hi Renita,

I would recommend using a 7 day JR Pass from Oct 5 - Cct 11th. The cost of a 7 day JR Pass is about the same as a normal return ticket Tokyo - Kyoto using the Shinkansen. From there any additional travel will go to your savings. The JR Pass can also be used on the Shinkansen to Odawara for Hakone, on local JR lines in Tokyo and to a limited extent in Kyoto.

You can also use the day trip from Tokyo or Kyoto if you feel like it. Think of Nara, Osaka or Nikko.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for the advice. Need some more advice, for a budget transportation across Japan.

Will be getting to Narita airport on 3rd Oct, my stay for the day is APA Hotel Sugamo Ekimae, until 4th Morning.

Can you please help me - how to go about from Narita airport to the hotel, at an non-expensive rate. Please suggest some good options to roam around near the hotel.

2) Need to get to the office on 4th Oct - 1030 AM. The office address is
19F, Tokyo Square Garden
3-1-1 Kyobashi, Chuo-ku
Tokyo, Japan 104-0031

Can you suggest how far is the office from my hotel, and how to go about.

I need more help from you. Thanks for all the advice.

Love from India.

Hi Renita,

Coming from Narita, this 1000yen bus is the cheapest option into Tokyo:
http://accessnarita.jp/en/home/

You can use it to Tokyo station and from there use the JR Yamanote line to Sugamo station, from where you can walk to the hotel.

The office seems to be close to Yurakucho station, which is also on the JR Yamanote line. Getting there by train should be easy.

Hope this helps too :)

Hi Dan,

One last question. I have forgotten to book a pocket wifi. Is it possible to get one in Japan itself - not too expensive?

Thanks!

Hi Renita,

When are you going to Japan? You can still place an order via:
http://www.jrpass.com/mobile_wifi

This is generally 30% cheaper, than buying the same package in Japan.

All the best,
Daniel

Hi there,

I hope that I'm in time for your trip. Do you mean Nakano in Tokyo, then its simple. Take a local train to Tokyo station from where you can catch the Shinkansen to Kyoto station.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
