Hi Li Rong,

You've already done your research very well. Looking at the route that you will travel, I advise using normal tickets for your route as their cost is below the cost of the JR Pass. You can check ticket prices for yourself here: www.jrpass.com/farecalculator

The rest looks very nice! Enjoy your trip.

Hi Daniel-san

Can I check with you if there is a need to buy tickets/ reserve a seat for inter-city trains (eg Kyoto to odawara, etc)?

Hi there,

Reservations are recommended but not required. You can always take a non-reserved seat, however I feel it to be more relaxed to have a reservations beforehand.
