Where to activate in Tokyo if going to Nikko or Kamakura?

Hi there,

I'm planning to buy a 7-day JRPass to go to Tokyo --> either Nikko or Kamakura, Tokyo -->Nagano, Nagano --> Kyoto, then on the 7th day Kyoto --> Nara.

My question is, where should I activate the JRPass if I'm going to Nikko or Kamakura? I want to activate it the morning that I would leave for either of these destinations, so hopefully the pass can be activated at the station where I would catch the train?

Thanks!!

Jen

Hi Jen,

The JR Pass can not be activated at Nikko or Kamakura.

Here is a list of all exchange offices. My advise would be to do so and Tokyo and then set a first day of use for the day that you want to start using it (you don't have to start using the JR Pass right away).

Hope this helps,
Daniel
