Hello there,

I am planning of travelling from tokyo to sapporo and then the tohoku region for 22 days. I will spend about 4 nites in sapporo for the snow festival and i would like to catch the kamakura at yokote akita..due to the timing to catch the kamakura light festival i have to go to yokote before exploring hakodate. So after yokote, i will go back to hakodate then start the decend to aomori, hachinohe, sendai, rikuzentakata, matsushima bay, zao (to see the snow monster), then tokyo and if possible to hitachi seaside park, jigokudani nagano , then to fuji Q highlands. With the mentioned destinations, do you think I should buy the 14 day JR Pass + the tokyo wide pass OR should 1 buy JR east south hokkaido pass + 1 week of jr pass + tokyo widepass?

Please advise.

Thanks
Harjanti

Hello Harjanti,

You will be traveling a lot and I think that a 14 day JR Pass would be the best option, as it is the only pass that covers travel from Hokkaido, Tokyo and Nagano. You can also use it every day, instead of a limited 6 days of the South Hokkaido pass. You will be traveling so much, that even a 21 day JR Pass would help you make savings.

Enjoy Japan!
Daniel

Hello Daniel,

Thanks a lot for your information. Sorry for not replying earlier as I was really busy that I couldnt spare the time to think about the upcoming vacation..

Another thing that just pop up in my mind now, which hopefully you can help me on, is how to travel from Sapporo to shikisai-no-oka? Any train or bus covered by JR Pass?

Thanks,
Harjanti

Hello Harjanti,

The closest station seems to be Bibaushi on the JR Hokkaido Furano line. You can use any local train Asahikawa from there to Bibaushi.

There are limited express trains from Sapporo to Asahikawa.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
