questions & answers: using the japan rail pass

visiting tokyo, osaka, kobe, and okinawa in april

visiting Tokyo, Osaka, Kobe, and Okinawa in April

Hi there,

I have some questions regarding the Japan Rail Pass. There are two travellers and we plan to arrive in Narita. We will stay in Tokyo for a few days and visit Yokohama as well as other city sight seeings. Then we will go to Osaka for a few days and spend one night at an onsen in Kobe. Then we are considering to go Okinawa directly or return to Osaka then making our way to Okinawa where we will stay for the remainder of the trip and fly home from Naha Airport.

So with our trips which includes one Narita Express, various city travels, one Tokyo - Osaka, one Osaka - Kobe, and one possible Kobe - Osaka trip; is it a good idea to purchase the Japan Rail Pass?

Also, is there a train which we can take from Osaka to Okinawa?

Thank you for answering my questions! It will be my 3rd time in Japan!

Unfortunately, for the itinerary you give, a JR Pass would not be economical. However, if you were to take a day trip and go see Hiroshima/Miyajima, which are well worth it, then it would pay off.

The next part of your question makes no sense... a train from Osaka to Okinawa</i???

Okinawa is another island - you have to fly or take a really slow ferry which is agony. Look into an air pass:

Hi there,

Thank you for your advice. I will consider visiting Hiroshima as well. I know Peach has good deals on air from Osaka to Okinawa but I was just wondering if there was a train option as well! Thank you again.
