Use of Nozomi between Tokyo and Osaka

Hi.

I understand that you can't use the JR Pass on Nozomi trains. My question is: if you have a JR Pass, could you travel on Nozomi by paying an extra fee? Or do you have to buy a full fare to use the Nozomi?

We are looking to travel from Tokyo to Osaka.

Thanks very much!

Hi there,

JR Pass holders have to pay the full fare if they wish to travel on the Nozomi, you can however use the Hikari Shinkansen for free instead. The main difference is that the Hikari makes a couple more stops on the way, everything else remains the same.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
