Hi,

We will arrive to Narita airport 2:45 pm Friday March 25th. We have reservation at the Biwako Ryokusuitei Kyoto, in Ogoto, Biwako, Kyoto. Then leave Kyoto Sunday to got Shonnan for a conference. We plan to use the JRT for travelling:
1. How do we get to Ogoto, Biwako ? We plan to take the bullet train from Tokyo to Kyoto, how often the train run? will we get to Kyoto to late? 2. Can we travel to Shonnan from Kyoto with the JRT, and what kind of train system at Shonnan we can use for visiting around: Tokyo, Yokohama etc..?

Thank you very much.

Hello There,

1.) First take the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto station. From there use the JR Biwako line to Ogoto Onsen station. The Hikari Bullet train has a service to Kyoto every 30 minutes.

2.) I was unable to find a place by the name Shonnan? Could you give me more information where this would be?

Kind wishes,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Sorry, it is Shonan, I believe it is a coastal town.
Thank you.

HNguyen.

Hi again!

There are JR lines near Shonan, however there are different stations in the area. I would recommend asking your accommodations for the best access options but the JR Pass will get you there :)

All the best,
Daniel

Thank you for the quick reply!

The conference is arranging accommodation at the Shonan Village Center. Is there a bullet train from Kyoto to Shonan? If not, what is the fastest way to use? Should we go back to Tokyo, then Shonan?

I presume I can use JR train to travel around while staying at Shonan (where my husband attending the conference)

Thank you again.

Hi again,

There is no Shinkansen station near Shonan. Is this the correct location: Google maps link.

the bet way would be to take a Shinkansen to Shin-Yokohama and local trains for there. You can of course use the JR Pass when your husband is attending the conference.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
