Hello. I arrive in Japan from the US at 4PM At Narita airport. I've been told to get the narita express to tokyo station and then to shin-osaka so I can get to Hiroshima... I was wondering since I arrive almost at night, I would get to Hiroshima at about midnight! Do the trains run all day and night? After hiroshima I plan on going to kyoto and Osaka before going back to Tokyo! Is it better to stay in Osaka or Kyoto? Thanks!

Hi there,

Trains in Japan stop service around midnight and resume the following morning around 6 am.

The latest connection using the JR Pass from Narita Airport leaves at 17:50. This gives you 1hand 15min to get on the train. This is not enough on a busy day and perhaps it is saver to stay the night in Tokyo or Kyoto/Osaka.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Thanks for the tips! I decided to make some changes. I'm thinking of trying to make it to the Narita Express and head to Osaka. Spend 3-4 days between osaka and kyoto and head for a one night stay in hiroshima. Thank you!

Hey, Daniel! Would you help me out with one more thing.... since you mentioned that the Narita Express stops working at 17:50, if I don't make it, what are my other transportation options to get to Tokyo Statio? I decided to go from Tokyo to Osaka! Thanks for the help!

Hi again!

The route I mentioned was the last to possible connection to Hiroshima. The Narita Express runs until 21:44. Given you more than enough time to get to Tokyo. Also see:

The last connection to Kyoto/Osaka however departs at 18:48.

Hope that helps!
Daniel
