Hi,

I would like to seek your advice on a suitable JR pass for my proposed itinerary as follows:

  1. Day 1 - Arrive Narita Airport and check-in Tokyo
  2. Day 2 to Day 5 - Tokyo
  3. Day 6 - Tokyo to Nagano
  4. Day 7 to Day 8 - Nagano
  5. Day 9 - Nagano to Osaka
  6. Day 10 - Osaka to Kyoto to Osaka
  7. Day 11 - Osaka to Kobe to Osaka
  8. Day 12 - Osaka to Hiroshima to Osaka
  9. Day 13 - Osaka
  10. Day 14 - Depart Osaka Kansai Airport

  11. Should I buy a 7-day pass and start it on Day 6 and end it on Day 12?; or

  12. Should I buy a 14-day pass for the whole 14- day trip?

Thank you.

Hello there!

I'd certainly go for the 7 day JR Pass and use it from day 6 - 12. This way you would make the best possible savings.
Here's a quick breakdown of normal ticket prices.

Tokyo - Nagano ¥ 8,000
Nagano - Osaka ¥ 11,790
Osaka - Kyoto (return) ¥ 1,120
Osaka - Kobe (return) ¥ 820
Osaka - Hiroshima ¥ 10,030
Hiroshima - Osaka ¥ 10,030

For a total ¥ 41,790 or ¥ 12,680 in savings, as the 7 day JR Pass is ¥ 29,110.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
