Dear Sir

I would like to check if it is more economical to use JR East Pass (5 days in 14 days) for my travel to Japan in Feb as below:

Day 1 Narita to Nagano (covered by JR Pass Day 1)
Day 2 Nagano to Kanzawa (partly covered by JR Pass Day 2, please advise the additional sum that we need to bear)
Day 3 Kanzawa
Day 4 Kanzawa to Shirakawa-go
Day 5 Shirakawa-go to Takayama
Day 6 Takayama
Day 7 Takayama to Hirayu Onsen
Day 8 Hirayu Onsen to Tokyo
Day 9 Tokyo to Atami (covered by JR Pass Day 3)
Day 10 Atami to Kawazu to Tokyo (covered by JR Pass Day 4)
Day 11 Tokyo
Day 12 Tokyo to Narita (covered by JR Pass Day 5)

Thanks in advance.

Hi there,

Looking at your itinerary, I do not think that you could make savings using a JR EAST Pass. Instead the best option would simply be to buy normal tickets as you travel. Also note that travel to Atami is not included in this pass.

I also checked if any other pass would work for your itinerary but I was unable to match a JR Pass here, so my advise would simply be to purchase normal tickets as you travel.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi there

Just want to clarify that it was stated in the website that we can take Superview Odoriko which will get through Atami and Ito. From Ito and Izukyu Shimoda, trains operate on the Izu Kyuko Line. JR EAST PASS holders ride free on this interval.

I'm not quite understand why Atami is not included in the JR East Pass. Please advise the details.

For Nagano to Kanzawa, please advise if our understanding is correct that it will be partly covered by the JR East Pass. It will be good if you can advise us how much the additional amount / what are the area not covered.

Thanks.

Hi again!

Sorry you are right, I was looking at a different coverage map and there is was not included. It may be that I was looking at an outdated map.

Please note that here at jrpass.com, we just focus on the JRPass (and not any regional pass). I recommend contacting JR East directly for further questions regarding the JR East Pass.

Thank you,
Daniel
