Hi. I'm in need of your help. I plan to stay in Tokyo for few days, visit Mt. Fuji and last stop Osaka. Arrival Narita and Departure Osaka. I will be traveling with my family. Will I be able to get use of the JR Pass? We plan to stay 10days for this trip. Which JR Pass is useful? Thank you

Hi there,

The JR Pass covers this route but I would advise using normal train tickets. A JR Pass is great if you would use it for a return Tokyo - Osaka but it is more economic to buy normal tickets, since you travel only one way.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Oh. Hi Daniel-san. I changed my plan to Tokyo - Osaka - Tokyo. We don't have any detailed itinerary yet but may I know can we go to Osaka using JR Pass? How if we will be coming from Shinjuku? We are group of 5 on this trip. Is it convenient esp to seniors to travel this far with our luggages with us? I just need to know if we need to get in and out of the train and how long would it take? I plan to get the 7day JR Pass since I want this itinerary for this trip -

Day 1 Arrival Narita
Tour Shinjuku - Shibuya Day 2 Disneysea / Disneyland
Day 3 Tsukiji Market
Yokohama Cup Noodles Museum/Kirin Village Day 4 Trip to Osaka (Dontonburi)
Day 5 Universal Studios
Day 6 Day Trip Kyoto going back to Tokyo (Is this advisable?)
Day 7 I plan to get Package tour to Mt. Fuji
Day 8 Tokyo
Day 9 Tokyo
Day 10 Departure Narita

Do you have any suggestions on this itinerary? Would it be convenient for my companions?

Thank you

Hi again,

That's quite a change! With this itinerary a 7 day would definately help for this route. My advise would be to use it from either day 1-7 or day 4 - 10 to get the best use out of it.

For Shinjuku - Osaka/ take a local train to Shinagawa or Tokyo station, from here you can take the Shinkansen to Shin-Osaka station. From Shin-Osaka local trains run into the city. I would reserve around 3,5 - 4h for this route.

Kyoto is closer to Tokyo than Osaka, so using it as a day trip before travelling back to Tokyo makes a lot of sense.

The rest looks good to me. However you may want to look at travelling to Fuji yourself, its not too hard.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Thank you, Daniel.

So, it is very convenient to travel from Tokyo - Osaka- Kyoto- Tokyo using JR Pass.

I hope this itinerary works. We will be going to Japan end of the month.
