Should I get a JR Pass?

I am planning a trip to japan - 16 days, focusing on Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto.

It seems the JR pass is very useful for travel across the country ... is it good value for me, if most of my travel is within Tokyo or Osaka, with only 1 single long distance journey from Tokyo to Osaka?

Thank you

Hi there,

The JR Pass would not help you make savings if you only travel between Tokyo - Osaka/Kyoto one way. If you would make a return or for instance visit further south to Hiroshima and Kyushu, then a JR Pass would be very useful.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Thank you, Daniel-san.

Is there a site I can check individual prices of each trip? Then I can try to also calculate myself ... as I am exploring a number of options I can make
- Tokyo to osaka - Tokyo to yuzuwa - Osaka to Kyota and back (return) and numerous trips around Tokyo & Osaka respectively for site seeing.
