Hello,

the plan is to go to Japan from Saturday the 5th of July 2014 till the 21st of July 2014. I think I'm going to the following places (not sure if this is going to be the final plan when I'm there):

  • Fukuoka (I will arrive there by ferry from South-Korea, Busan)
  • Hiroshima
  • Kyoto
  • Nagoya
  • Mount Fuji
  • Nikko
  • Tokyo (I'm planning to stay here the last five days, that's including my departure-day to my home)

The plan is to go to these cities in the order I wrote them above.

What would you recommend me? Should I buy a JRPass, if thats the case should I buy one for one or two weeks?

Kind regards,

Yara

Hello Yara,

That looks like a nice start for a trip to Japan! As for the JR Pass, I do think that one could be useful for your travel. As it covers (nearly) everything you wish to see and visit.

It's hard to see exactly how much in savings you could make but they would certainly be good. For instance a one way ticket Fukuoka - Tokyo alone would be ¥ 22,330 without the JR Pass. My advice to make the most of your pass would be to go for a 7 day JR Pass and try to cover Fukuoka - Kyoto - Nagoya - Tokyo and Nikko with it. I am saying this because visiting Fuji may involve non JR travel and it is very easy to make a day trip from Tokyo - Fuji.

Does this help? Let me know your thoughts!
Daniel
