Question about transferring from train to train

Hi! I'm here in Japan and I have my JR Pass but I'm still not completely sure how to use it. Do I need to present my pass at every station when I transfer or do I just get on the next JR train? Also, when going to a train station do I just present my pass or do I also need to get a ticket? I ask because the pass says "both the ticket and this pass together are required for boarding the train". Thanks!

Hi there,

You show your JR Pass when you enter and exit the ticket gates. Your JR Pass is your ticket and all you need if you wish to travel on a non-reserved seat.

A reserved seat can also be used but requires a reservation beforehand. Here is how to make seat reservations:

Hope this helps,
Daniel
