Hi there!

I would certainly recommend a 7 Day JR Pass for your travel. You'd make some great savings as the JR Pass would already pay off by traveling to Osaka and back. Adding in the trip to Nikko really makes the most of your pass.

Hope this helps!

Hi Daniel,
How about metro in Japan , Kyoto and Osaka city?
Do I have to buy a separate day pass? And where can I buy it ? What's the name of the passes?

The JR Pass can be used for local travel in both Tokyo and Osaka, which is enough to see most of the city. For the rest I'd recommend buying normal tickets as local travel is pretty cheap. If you do plan on using the metro in Tokyo a lot, consider buying a one day Tokyo Metro pass.

Hi Daniel,
How about Kyoto sightseeing? Do I need to buy day passes as well?
Thanks

Hi there!

For Kyoto you could consider buying a Kyoto bus pass. Which is 500yen and allows for unlimited bus travel on a single day. A normal bus ride is always 220yen, so it is easy to make savings!

Hi Daniel,

Please advice if I activated JR pass on April 6th 8am, can I use on April 13 10am from Osaka back to Tokyo?
Also if I pick the pass at Nafira airport, does that consider I activated the pass on April 6?

Hello :D

The JR Pass would be valid until the 12th if you activate it on the 6th, so it would be better to activate the pass later and use it for the return from Osaka. You can exchange the JR Pass at any time and then select a 1st day of use up to 30 days in advance.

Hi Daniel,
In this case, I need to buy a one way ticket from Narita - Tokyo station ( where my hotel are)
should I purchase NEX Tokyo direct for foreigner rate?

Then I need to buy a 2 days Tokyo Metro/ subway pass. What pass should I buy?
Can I purchase that upfront for discounted price?

Hi again,

Yes it would be best to buy the Narita Ticket directly at the airport for the discounted price. You can purchase a Metro Pass at any ticket machine so you may as well do so later on. I believe there's one available at Narita Airport for which is even a bit more discounted but this is only a small difference.
