Hi.
I am a Malaysian, and working in a university in Malaysia. However, I hold Permanent Resident status which I obtained in Japan. Because of this PR status, I won't get a "temporary visitor" stamp in my passport.

If I go to Japan for conference or visit friends, am I eligible for this Japan Railway Pass?

Thank you.

Hi there!

I'm afraid the JR Pass is only valid for holders of the "temporary visitor" entry status. This means that if you enter Japan under the Permanent Resident entry status you will be unable to use the Japan Rail Pass.

I'm sorry to be the bearer of such news!
