My port of entry is Osaka on Feb 3, 2015. These are my questions:

  1. Can I go to Sapporo from Osaka using my JR Pass? How and what route do I take?
  2. Can I use my JR Pass for my 2-day stay in Sapporo (February 8-10, 2015)?
Your expert advice will be much appreciated.
  3. Will my trip from Osaka-Sapporo and vice-versa entail more transport expenses in addition to the JR Pass?

Thanks.

Hello Dinna Paulino,

1.) Yes the JR Pass covers the entire route Osaka - Sapporo. Here is the full route. Note that you will have to use a Hikari train instead of a Nozomi in the first part. The route is exactly the same but will take 19 minutes longer with the Hikari Super express.

2.) The JR Pass can be used for local JR lines around Sapporo and Hokkaido, other transport within Sapporo is not included.

3.) All rail travel between Osaka - Sapporo stations is covered by the JR Pass.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
