HI there!
We're doing 2 weeks in Japan in August and thinking of something like this:

12th Arrive Osaka Kansai and stay one night in Osaka

13-17 Kyoto with day trips to Nara and possibly Himeji

18-19 Hakone (or maybe Koya and Hakone)

20-24 Tokyo

25 fly from Tokyo Narita.

We're thinking of getting a 7 day JR pass, and using it from around the 15-22nd. Does this seem worth it?

Thanks!
MickG

Hi MickG,

It would be better to buy normal tickets for your itinerary. The only really expancive route is Kyoto - Tokyo (Hakone is on the route) and this is not enough for a JR Pass to pay off.

A secerio where the JR Pass would help you make savings, is if you'd do more Shinkansen travel with it. For instance visiting Hiroshima.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Thanks Daniel-san. It looks like we will now do;
12 Osaka
13-16 Kyoto (with day trip to Hiroshima and possibly Himeji)
17 Nara
18-19 Hakone
20-24 Tokyo

So I think a 7 day pass starting on the 14th for a trip to Hiroshima and ending on the 20th arriving in Tokyo should work out.

Hi again!

That does indeed look good! Love the visit to Hiroshima and you'll put the JR Pass to great use!

Let me know if there's anything I can help with :)
Daniel
