Hi! To best utilise the JR pass, this is my plans - and I have some questions I hope you'll be able to help!

19 Apr - Arrival at Tokyo, activate JR Pass immediately and travel to Osaka
20 Apr - Visit Kyoto
21 Apr - Visit Kyoto
22 to 24 Apr - Travel in Osaka, mainly the downtown areas
25 Apr - Back to Tokyo

To minimise the accommodation hassle, we have decided to only stay in Osaka from 20 - 24 April

In terms of accommodation, would staying at Shin-Osaka be a better choice or Osaka/Namba, in terms of minimal train transfers and short travelling time?

Thanks!

Hi there,

Osaka (Umeda) station has high speed local train service to Kyoto, you could stay there to minimise transfers.

The are around Shin-Osaka is very boring, Namba itself is possible the best part of Osaka but requires more transfers to access with JR.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
