Hi Daniel-san,

My family of 6 will be visiting Tokyo, Nagoya, Kyoto and Hiroshima from 10 to 16 May 2014. I read those questions posted earlier and I only have 2 questions and truly hope you could advise me.

  1. If I buy a 7-day Ordinary JR Pass for ¥ 29,110, can I go to "midori no madoguchi" and book for a reserve seat for free on any JR Hikari, JR Kodama, JR Sakura and the Limited Express?

  2. If yes to Q1 above, do I need to book for free reserve seat in advance a day before the actual trip or anytime during the day prior to the departure time?

Your reply will be highly appreciated.

Thank you very much for your precious time in attending and replying to my questions.

Warm regards,
Francis LAC

Hi Francis,

1.) Yes you can reserve all the tickets you want at the "midori no madoguchi" once you have activated your JR Pass. Seat reservations are completely free with the JR Pass.

2.) You can reserve the seats a week in advance or 5 minutes before departure. Making a reservation with the JR pass is always free.

I hope this helps!
Daniel

Hi Daniel-san,

My family intend to visit the Bamboo Groves and Tenryuji Temple and also take the Sagano Scenic Train ride on 14 May 2014. We would truly appreciate if you could kindly advise us on how to use the JR Pass from JR Nagoya Station to JR Saga-Arashiyama Station. I have checked the Hyperdia.com but no information is found.

Your reply is much appreciated.

Thank you and warm regards,
Francis LAC
