Hi, I need your kindly advice for the detail transportation (including the optimization or JR Pass and other transport which couldn't be covered by JR pass) for my trip on June 2016 Tokyo- Matsumoto- Kamikochi- Takayama- Shirakawago- Kanazawa- Kyoto - Osaka - Hakone - Tokyo. Many Thanks. Regards, Stefanus YT
Optimizing JR Pass for my trip
Hi there,
While the route itself looks good, the interesting question in regard to a JR Pass is how many days you have to explore Japan.
For the parts that are not covered by the JR Pass, these include the bus to Kamikochi and the bus to and from Shirakawa-go. Also within Hakone you may need additional travel. Here a Hakone Free Pass can be useful. The rest of the itinerary is covered by the JR Pass.
Hope this helps!
Daniel
Hi Daniel, many tks for your advice. However, I still have a question, although this is not about jr pass, hope you have advice. Could I travel in one way from matsumoto to kamikochi then to takayama using nouhi bus? From my understanding I could travel from matsumoto to kamikochi then kamikochi to takayama via hirayu onsen, is this correct? Can I buy the one way ticket bus from kamikochi to takayama at kamikochi bus station?
Hi again!
Yes you are correct about the bus routes. I am however not completely sure what the best way of buying tickets is. I think you can buy them at the bus ticket office in Matsumoto but am not 100% sure.
