Please advise as we are traveling to the above places in December using Public Transport, should we buy JR Rail pass ? If yes how many days pass? During my 4 days in Sapporo, I might go to Asahikawa for day trip, or travel to Ski Resort or Onsen near by Sapporo. Please suggest a ski place for beginner. Or an Onsen which I could reach by public transport.Thank you.

Hello there,

You'll spend all your time in Hokkaido, so if anything, look at a JR Hokkaido pass. A normal JR Pass would be a good option if you also traveled to Tokyo for instance.

A nice onsen you can visit Hokkaido is near Nobori-Betsu. I have yet to enjoy winter sports myself in Hokkaido, so I am of little help there. However I have heard from follow travelers that Niseko is very good.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
