Need help with Japan transportation

Hello everyone,

I will be traveling to Japan in December and arriving in Tokyo (Haneda Airport).

I plan to stay in Tokyo for a few days then go to Kawaguchi to see Mt. Fuji. Then to Kyoto, Nara then final stop at Osaka before taking my flight back to Singapore.

I would appreciate if you can help advise if JR pass can help me save transportation cost. Otherwise, please help suggest other relevant passes I can buy to save cost.

I will greatly appreciate your thoughts on this. Other suggestions about places to see, budget accommodations, food to try, etc are welcome.

Many many thanks in advance :) Arigato!

Hello there,

Looking at your itinerary, my advice would be to buy normal tickets here. A 7 day JR Pass is generally a good option if you at least make a return Tokyo - Kyoto/Osaka. You will travel only one way and a JR Pass would simply not pay off.

For travel around Tokyo and Kyoto, look at buying local day passes. These can save you a lot if you plan on sightseeing a lot.

Hope this helps and have a good trip!
Daniel
