Need help on 5 day Tokyo-Osaka-Kyoto-Tokyo trip

We decided to go on a 5 day trip to Japan. The schedule is as following:

Day 1: Arrive at Narita in early morning. Go to Osaka right after. Stay a night at Osaka
Day 2: One day trip to Kyoto. Check out and head back to Tokyo
Day 3: Hakone
Day 4: Tokyo Disneyland and sea
Day 5: Shopping in Tokyo
Day 6: Go to Narita early in the morning

I want to ask apart from the biggest cost which is Tokyo-Osaka round trip by shinkansen, what Can JR Pass cover for my trip? Should I buy cheap airplane ticket to flight between Tokyo-Osaka and purchase Region Pass instead?

Any advice and recommendation is appreciated. Thank you so much!!

Hello there,

A 7 day JR Pass would suit your itinerary perfectly. You can use it from rail travel between the above places and make good savings over normal tickets at the same time.

Good to know is that the JR Pass covers travel to Hakone but you have to use non-JR transport with in Hakone. A Hakone Free Pass can be useful if you plan to make a full circle in Hakone. The JR Pass can be used to take the Shinkansen from Tokyo station to Odawara station. Odawara is the Shinkansen station for Hakone, from there local transport runs throughout the area.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
